What is Paint Correction?

Over time, through improper wash practices and drive-thru car washes - your vehicle’s paint acquires micro-scratches and swirls. Swirls are circular scratches - as you can see in the photo above. These swirls and scratches present themselves prominently when exposed to light or the sun. These swirls and scratches can make your vehicle appear aged and weathered, which contributes to depreciation and loss of value in a vehicle.

Luckily, through paint correction - we are able to fix this! Utilizing a variety of polishers, pads, and products we are able to cut down these defects, and reveal shiny, clear, defect free paintwork!

How Does Paint Correction Work?

Now, you might be wondering - “how does paint correction work”? Well, generally when vehicles are painted, they are painted in layers. The layers would be as follows: Primer, basecoat (color), and the final top layer would be clear coat. When we polish your vehicle during the paint correction process, we reduce the appearance of scratches by shaving down the clear coat on a micro-level. Don’t Worry! Before doing this, here at Active Auto Detailing we take paint depth readings to help assure that we preserve your clear coat and the properties which protect your paint against UVA and UVB from the sun.
